If you have a severe disability that prevents you from continuing to work, you may be eligible to receive Social Security Disability payments. However, the strict definitions, complicated paperwork, and stringent process of applying for Social Security benefits can be confusing. Additionally, incomplete applications may result in benefits being denied.
Those who are already receiving Social Security benefits will sometimes have their cases reviewed periodically, and our office can help to make sure that benefits continue uninterrupted. Our office can help with the application for Social Security benefits or appeal an application that has been denied.
Social Security Disability
Social Security Insurance Program (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are Federal programs intended to help people who are unable to work due to any type of medical condition. Unfortunately, most people who apply for Social Security Disability (“SSD”) claims are denied initially. Social Security Disability benefits may be available to an individual, their survivors or dependents if the following requirements are met:
- Worked or paid into Social Security for at least (5) five of the past (10) ten years
- Have been in the past or will be totally disabled from any work for at least (12) twelve consecutive months and unable to perform any type of work due to a physical or mental impairment.
- Once awarded Social Security Disability benefits it may be possible to also qualify for Medicare insurance coverage but only after a 24-month waiting period.
At the Law Firm of Karl Frankovitch, we handle Social Security Disability claims from Application through Appeals. We can help complete the necessary paperwork in a professional manner to help gain approval of the SSD claim. If denied SSD Benefits initially our office can help with the request for a hearing in front of an ALJ and handle all other aspects of the appeals process.
